JUDGE ROLAND FREISLER

JUDGE ROLAND FREISLER (1893–1945)

A prominent and notorious Nazi judge who presided over the People’s Court and in a series of mock trials, condemned the July 20, 1944 conspirators to death. He died in an air raid midway through trying the case of Fabian Von Schalbrendorff. Freisler lay crushed to death under a fallen beam, still clutching Schalbrendorff’s file in his hand.
