COLONEL-GENERAL LUDWIG BECK (1880–1944)

Chief of the German General Staff during the early years of the Nazi regime. As one of the leaders of the German Resistance he was positioned to become provisional Head of State had the 20 July, 1944 plot to kill Hitler succeeded. When it failed, Beck shot himself.
